Year 6 Isle of Wight - Day One: The journey begins...

What wonderful weather for our first day on the Isle of Wight. After a very early start, we caught the ferry across the Solent to Fishbourne and headed towards our first destination, Alum Bay. Here we made our way down the 198 steps to the beach where the Rambling Rose was waiting for us. We took a pleasure boat ride out to the Needles.

Did we mention the 198 steps? Well, they were an awful lot easier to walk down than up! Once back at the top, we had the chance to watch a demonstration of glass blowing at Alum Bay Glass, and a little souvenir shopping.

We arrived at Little Canada in time to meet Luke and Bethan, our PGL leaders, and take a tour of the site before dinner, a choice between fish fingers and chips, stir fry noodles or a rather delicious chicken curry, all served with salad or veg.

This evening’s activity saw the children travelling the world in a team treasure hunt called ‘Around the World’. They’re all now settling down to sleep.
